Big Sad

The author whose tales of adolescent angst and family dysnfunction that captured generations died last Wednesday, at 91. I remember vividly how at a very young age of 8, I grieved and pictured young Holden Caufield's quest to outrun the world in J.D Salinger's book, "The Catcher in the Rye."

Farewell, my favorite author. Someday, I'll bump into you and discuss how phony the world can become... Rest in peace.

Ah, I had no idea he had passed on!? I can see copy of 'Catcher' in a stack on the shelf where I sit right now :(
You were lucky to find him at 8yrs, I didn't till I was 21yrs.
It is very sad, but I console myself, that at 91yrs old, well, that is a very full life to have lived :S

You read Salinger as early as 7? Anyway, here's an idea on how you grieved: http://www.sunstar.com.ph/cebu/weekend/where-ducks-go-when-it%E2%80%99s-cold

What I wouldn't give to be the kid who read him at 7.

@Rye: Thanks to my mom, who, while having fun beating me if I dont devour the books she'd have me read, contributed to my addiction to books today.
